The season of pumpkin pie and apple cider is fast approaching. Orchards in the area are ready for the festivities to begin. Here are local Wisconsin and Minnesota farms and orchards so pick the perfect fall and family for you.
Maple Leaf Orchard
The fall season at Maple Leaf Orchard officially starts on Labor Day, Monday, Sept.6. Open daily from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., until Halloween, Maple Leaf is open to pick your own grapes, pumpkins, mums and more or shop their maple syrup, honey, apple cider, jelly, over 30 varieties of apples and more.
The orchard will continue to be open Wednesday’s and Saturday's Nov. 1-Dec. 23 and is located just west of Spring Valley, Wis. at W3901 750th Ave.
Circle K Orchard
Circle K Orchard, N7653 650th St., Beldenville, Wis., is open every day from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. On 40 acres of land just outside of River Falls, Wis., Circle K specializes in growing apples developed for the upper Midwest, like Haralson, Regent and Honey Crisp.
“We feature the only on-site cider pasteurizer in a Western Wisconsin apple orchard and it is open for inspection,” states the orchards website. “Our pasteurizing process heats the cider to 160 degrees for 10 seconds which will eliminate any contaminates but does not cook the cider. Therefore our cider retains its natural texture and retains the nutrients.”
White Pine Berry Farm
Now open for sunflower and zinnia season, White Pine Berry Farm, 1482 Oak Drive in River Falls, Wis.is still waiting for fall raspberries to ripen, but they’re well on their way to being pick ready.
From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday or Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. stop out to White Pine Berry for the perfect photo in the sunflower field, pumpkin picking, rhubarb, beans, currants and more.
Driftless Orchard opens Labor Day weekend, Sept.4, for you-pick and pre-picked apples and pumpkins, open daily 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Nestled in Hager City, Wis. between Ellsworth, Wis. and Red Wing, Minn. on Highway 63. Not only do they have apples, squash and pumpkins but a beautiful view, too.
Swede Pickings Orchard and Vineyard
Take a turn just off the Great River Road near Bay City, Wis. and you’ll find Swede Pickings, a unique pick-your-own orchard with a view of the Mississippi River. Open select weekends until October, keep tabs on Swede Pickings website and Facebook for dates.
On 8 acres, Swede Pickings has a variety of fruit and nuts, including grapes and apples perfect for wine and cider makers.
“Come walk the 4 acres of orchard and over 2 acres of vineyard with bluff-top views of the Mississippi River,” invites their website.
Whistling Well Farm
Open daily, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., head to Whistling Well Farm for Minnesota grown apples. Whistling Well, open since 1972, is located at 8973 St Croix Trail S. in Hastings, Minn.

Located on over 250 acres in the heart of the St. Croix Valley, Afton Apple’s family run orchard is ready for you. The orchard opened Aug. 21 for pick-your-own apples daily. Visit on the weekends from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and weekdays 12 p.m.-6 p.m. for a hayride out to the apple trees at 14421 90th St. S. Hastings, Minn.

Croix Farm Orchard
Tuesday, Sept. 7 Croix Farm Orchard, 12971 St. Croix Trail S. Hastings, Minn., will be open for the season. Apples, pears, pumpkins and a corn maze are only a few of their offerings.
Pick Your Own Apples 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday until the end of November.
